There are groups associated with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department, the National Gang Center, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, along with many others, who provide resources to eliminate the threat of gangs in our community. Whether it is working with youth early on to prevent them from joining gangs, assisting current gang members with a way out, or getting violent gangs off of the street, thousands of people are working diligently to alleviate the problem. It is imperative that we all work together, whether it is donating time, or donating money, we all can make a difference if we try.

Gangs have a negative effect on the community. Murder, drugs, high dropout rates, broken families and incarceration are all negative effects of gangs. However, there are also resources that can lessen or eliminate gang involvement.
